Aircraft Certification Liaison Engineer (m/f/d)


  • Serves as a liaison to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) by providing tactical support of projects being worked by Garmin Olathe (USA) and Garmin Salem (USA), including validation of FAA STC’s and also EASA STC’s done on behalf of Garmin by Design Organization Approvals (DOAs).
  • Help prepare data for EASA only STCs for VLA and ELA1 aircraft.
  • Provides tactical support of EASA applications submitted by Garmin and stay apprised of progress and status on a routine basis.
  • Assists Garmin European dealers with certification-related roadblocks and provide communication paths to EASA or to DOAs to assist in solving certification issues.
  • Assists with research and discussion with DOA’s Garmin is considering partnering with, including visiting facilities for meetings, vetting and providing feedback on DOA capabilities, assisting with communicating priorities to the DOA and providing feedback for their progress.
  • Provides strategic support of Garmin Aircraft Certification interests with EASA, including providing early notice of new rules or guidance being drafted and providing feedback and influence within EASA.
  • Participates on behalf of Garmin in EASA, EUROCONTROL, EUROCAE, CAA or other certification-related industry meetings.
  • Ensures exceptional communications, including supporting regular communication meetings with certification teams and participating in management and technical exchanges with regulatory agencies.
  • Provides aircraft level certification guidance to Product Engineering teams, particularly when European requirements are different from FAA requirements.
  • Accepts and completes projects and other miscellaneous certification related aircraft engineering duties as assigned. 


  • Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university, or many years of well-founded professional experience equivalent experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description. Must possess many years professional experience working aircraft certification projects and possess many years of aircraft engineering experience.
  • Demonstrates a proficient, thorough working knowledge of CS Parts 21, 23 and 25 aircraft
  • Demonstrates a proficient, thorough working knowledge of the TSO process
  • Experience as part of an EASA DOA
  • Possesses thorough working knowledge of aircraft avionics
  • Must be highly motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast-paced and changing environment
  • Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills (in English) with a proven ability to interact effectively with associates, customers and certification authorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products
  • Pilot´s license desirable
